About Pale Moon Ebony

Pale Moon Ebony, scientifically known as Diospyros malabarica, is a distinctive Southeast Asian ebony commonly known as Black-and-White Ebony or Malabar Ebony. It is particularly prized for its spectacular contrast between a pale cream, straw, or yellowish background and irregular dark brown to black streaks.
The natural figure varies considerably from piece to piece. Some boards display predominantly light-colored wood with fine black lines, while exceptional pieces can contain extensive dark areas and dramatic contrasting patterns. Its generally straight grain, fine uniform texture, and natural luster make it highly attractive for premium woodworking.
Pale Moon Ebony is also valued in the guitar and tonewood market, where selected material can be used for decorative and structural instrument components.
