About European Poplar Logs & Timber

European Poplar (Populus spp.) is one of the lightest hardwoods commercially available in Europe, with a density of around 450 kg/m³. The wood is white to pale yellowish-grey with a fine, uniform texture and generally straight grain. Despite being classified as a hardwood, poplar is soft and easy to work, accepting nails, screws, and glue without splitting. It is extensively used in the packaging and pallet industries, and as a core veneer in plywood. Its rapid growth rate and excellent carbon sequestration make it one of the most sustainable commercial timber species in Europe. EU-TIMBER supplies PEFC-certified Belgian poplar logs and sawn timber, well-suited for boxes, crates, pallets, plywood core, interior cladding, and paper pulp.
