About European Oak Logs & Timber

European Oak (Quercus robur / petraea) is the benchmark hardwood of the continent, prized for centuries in construction, furniture making, and wine barrel cooperage. The heartwood ranges from pale yellow-brown to medium brown, often with a characteristic silver-ray figure in quarter-sawn cuts. The grain is straight to slightly interlocked with a coarse, open texture that accepts stains and finishes beautifully. At roughly 720 kg/m³, it offers excellent strength-to-weight ratio, outstanding dimensional stability once dried, and exceptional natural durability rated Class 2. EU-TIMBER supplies fresh-felled and air-dried European oak logs direct from PEFC-certified Belgian and French forests. Suitable for structural beams, heavy joinery, flooring, furniture, railway sleepers, and barrel staves.
