European Field Maple (Acer campestre) and Norway Maple (Acer platanoides) produce a hard, dense timber averaging around 650 kg/m³ with a fine, even texture and a creamy white to pale yellowish-brown colour. The grain is typically straight, though wavy and curly figures do occur, particularly in older trees. European maple is stiffer and harder than many other domestic European species and holds a very clean, sharp surface after machining — making it an excellent choice for flooring, work surfaces, and any application requiring resistance to wear and indentation.
