About European Beech Logs & Timber

European Beech (Fagus sylvatica) is the workhorse hardwood of Central Europe, renowned for its uniform texture, straight grain, and excellent machinability. The freshly cut wood is pale cream to pinkish-brown, darkening to a warm reddish-brown when steamed, a process widely used in the furniture industry. With a density of approximately 720 kg/m³ and a Janka hardness of around 6,000 N, beech is one of the hardest and most dimensionally predictable European species. It bends superbly under steam, making it ideal for bentwood furniture and tool handles. EU-TIMBER sources PEFC-certified Belgian and Central European beech logs, suitable for furniture components, parquet flooring, plywood, kitchen utensils, tool handles, and industrial pallets.
