About European Ash Logs & Timber

European Ash (Fraxinus excelsior) is celebrated for its outstanding toughness and elasticity — properties that make it uniquely suited for absorbing shock and vibration. The wood is creamy white to light brown with a clearly defined, straight-to-wavy grain and a somewhat coarse texture. Density sits around 690 kg/m³. Its combination of stiffness, hardness, and flexibility is unmatched among European species, which is why ash has long been the timber of choice for tool handles, oars, sports equipment, and traditional coach building. EU-TIMBER supplies PEFC-certified ash logs from Belgian and Northern European forests. Note: supplies of ash are under pressure from ash dieback (Hymenoscyphus fraxineus) in some regions — EU-TIMBER sources from disease-monitored, certified stands.
